Salty Sailfish is a first-row beach house in Jamaica Beach, raised on stilts with the Gulf right out front. Walk across the grassy berm and you’re on the sand. Come back to rinse off at the outdoor shower, fire up the grills, and end the night around the fire pit.

The home was recently remodeled with a new kitchen, new baths, fresh paint, and new Amish-built furniture. Two separate living areas, a living room and a den, let part of the group settle in with a game on TV while everyone else catches up in the other room.

Dinner happens in the dining room, the largest room in the house, where a wall of windows faces the Gulf. The table seats 8, with 5 more at the kitchen breakfast bar.

Four king bedrooms and a bunk room with two sets of twin bunks sleep up to 12, and two queen sleeper sofas give you extra flexibility. There’s a master suite with its own ensuite bath on each level, and the top-floor master opens onto a private oceanfront balcony. Bring the dog, too.

Jamaica Beach is a small, laid-back beach city on Galveston Island’s West End. Within town you’ll find a local grocery store and restaurants, plus a few public spots run by the City of Jamaica Beach: a city park with a playground, basketball court, and covered pavilion; a seasonal municipal pool and splash pad with separate paid admission; and the Regatta Basin boat ramp, with canal access to West Galveston Bay. These city amenities aren’t part of your rental, but they’re easy add-ons to a beach week.

When you’re ready to explore, Galveston’s Seawall and downtown are roughly 12–15 miles east. Galveston Island State Park, Moody Gardens, and the Historic Pleasure Pier make great day trips, and Moody Gardens Golf Course is the closest full course.
