Escape to the Lake Lakefront Vacation Rental Home in Lake Norman, NC
Blue Bayou is the kind of place that turns a vacation into a story your family will tell for years. Nestled in the woods on the banks of Lake Norman, the home opens onto sprawling grounds, lush landscape, and uninterrupted lake views — the urban world feels very far away, even though Charlotte is only 20 miles south.
A long private drive, lined with split-rail fences and palm trees, leads you in. Inside, natural wood floors, vaulted ceilings, and a stained-glass chandelier set the tone. The main great room opens to the lake through floor-to-ceiling windows, and natural light fills the space. It’s a home built for gathering — for board games, after-dinner drinks, theater nights, and big sit-down meals at a dining table that actually seats your whole group.
Inside Blue Bayou
This three-level home has space for 19 guests to spread out and find their own spots. The open kitchen is fully equipped — granite counters, full-size fridge, full appliance package — and ready for everything from a weeknight pasta to a holiday feast. The dining table seats up to 19, so for once nobody needs to eat at the kids’ table.
Entertainment is built in. The in-home movie theater has a movie library, state-of-the-art sound, and proper theater seating. The two-car garage has been converted into a game room with a pool table, gaming system, and ping pong table. There’s a separate downstairs living room — great for the kids and the kids-at-heart — and a quiet loft on the top floor for reading or working.
Outside – The Lake Life
The 16 x 32 private pool is open May 1 through November 1, with heating available for an additional fee on cooler days. The hot tub stays year-round. Around the pool, you’ll find multiple gazebos, plenty of seating, and an outdoor kitchen with a built-in BBQ and bar — keep the snacks and drinks where the party is.
A large screened-in porch off the dining room looks out over the pool and lake. A bonfire pit sits along the paved path down to the water, perfect for s’mores and recapping the day. And at the water’s edge: your private deep-water dock, dredged to maintain deep water access, large enough for multiple boats and jet skis. Lake Norman has no horsepower restrictions, so it’s a perfect lake for water skis, wakeboards, and serious watersports. Bring your own — or rent locally.
